Although she was not nominated for any performance that year and already received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010, the TV academy took a special moment to honor the Golden Girl. one last time.
As the celebrities rose to their feet, many wiping tears from their eyes, a fragile Betty was helped onto the catwalk, where she immediately looked at home.
She smiled, thanked everyone for their love and appreciation and even offered her hand to presenter Alec Baldwin, to kiss her like she was royal.

NATURAL CAUSES
Sources told TMZ that the iconic star passed away at her home on New Years Eve morning.
She was only weeks away from her 100th birthday on January 17th.
The source added that she has no illnesses and does not suffer from any particular illnesses. She is believed to have died of natural causes.
Her agent and friend Jeff Witjas said in a statement to PEOPLE: “Even though Betty was about to turn 100, I thought she would live forever.
“I will miss her terribly, just like the animal world she loved so much. I don’t think Betty was ever afraid of dying because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. that she would be with him again. ”

Following the news, fans and celebrities alike flocked to pay tribute to the iconic actress.
Ryan Reynolds shared a touching post about the big one, just a day after joking that he had a “past relationship” with Betty.
He wrote: “The world looks different now. She was good at defying expectations. She managed to get very old and in a way, not old enough. We will miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret. “
Don Lemon posted a photo of him and Betty with the caption: “Noooooooooon. Say it’s not,” while Piers Morgan dubbed her “the funniest woman I’ve ever met”.
Andy Cohen added, “Tonight we will be raising A LOT of Betty White WONDERFUL heritage glasses !!!”

In a final tweet before her death, Betty reflected on her next special day: “My 100th birthday… I can’t believe it’s approaching.”

Along with a photo of the star, Betty revealed on Instagram that she is having a special event for her birthday.

She then revealed the impressive guest list for the party celebrating “America’s Sweetheart.”
