“Forensic Files” leaves Netflix in January 2022

Fans of true crime documentaries will want to gorge themselves on the Forensic Files, as all nine seasons currently expire from Netflix in the United States on January 1, 2022.

The show that traded networks throughout its airing between 1996 and 2011, is a crime documentary series that was originally called Medical detectives.

Created by Paul Dowling, the show followed detectives and criminal lab techs as they use the latest and most fascinating procedures to solve crimes.

Almost 400 episodes have been produced throughout the show’s lifespan, with Netflix carrying 376 across the 9 available collections. Forensic files has been streaming on Netflix US (no other region offers the show) since early 2017.

The first day of the New Year is always accompanied by large withdrawals from Netflix, but the United States is doing quite slightly this year, at least when it comes to TV shows. There are currently over 150 titles expiring from Netflix US on January 1, so check them out.

If you are wondering why Forensic Files is going away, it depends on how Netflix acquires much of its content. In many cases, it allows titles to stream for a fixed period of time. With content providers looking in many cases to reclaim licenses to power other streaming services, they let titles disappear from Netflix. Also, Forensic files Maybe not doing the numbers for Netflix and they decide it’s better to invest that money elsewhere.

Where will the Forensic Files stream after leaving Netflix?

The good news is that the options for streaming the forensic files after they leave Netflix appear to be plentiful.

Assuming he’s not ready to leave the other locations he currently broadcasts on New Years Eve, the 14 seasons of Forensic files should remain on Peacock in both the ad-supported free tier and the premium tier.

It is also available on many AVOD platforms, be it The Roku Channel, Pluto TV or Fubo.

As you may also know, HBO Max has relaunched the series in recent months with the release of Medico-legal files II which is dubbed an original HLN series.

Netflix has a lot of real crime you can dive into to act as a surrogate, including Unsolved mysteries which arguably has the greatest overlap with Forensic files.
