Moscow reserves the right to react if Berlin continues to pressure Russian media – Russian Politics and Diplomacy

MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. Russia reserves the right to respond if the German side continues to pressure Russian media working in Germany, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday ahead of talks between the two countries’ top diplomats.

“If the German side does not abandon the practice of pressuring Russian media in Germany, we reserve the right to take reactive action against German media working in Russia,” he said.

According to the ministry, it must state with deep regret that despite repeated public warnings and clear signals through diplomatic channels, official Berlin continues to obstruct the activities of the Russian media holding company ANO TV-Novosti and its office. German-language television company operating under the RT DE brand for political reasons.

“Since its launch on December 16, 2021, the German authorities have taken several steps to oust RT DE from the German news space. As a result, RT DE’s satellite broadcast has been partially blocked and its channel has been removed from YouTube,” the ministry said. “We view these measures as a flagrant violation by Berlin of its international commitments to freedom of expression and the media and as deliberately hostile actions against Russia.”
