Netflix’s “Clickbait” Top of Nielsen Streaming Ratings, a Big Hit

Netflix is still the streaming service to beat with its hugely popular “Clickbait” series, as well as the final season of “Money Heist”.

“Clickbait” goes strong and we’re not just talking about the sponsored stories under this article.

For the second week in a row, Netflix‘s drama series “Clickbait” was the most-watched original streaming TV show of the week, according to Nielsen’s latest report. The series was viewed for 1,460 million minutes from August 30 to September 5, garnering more than three views of Netflix’s “Money Heist,” which was the second most-watched title of the week, at 452 million minutes views.

According to Netflix, “Clickbait” centers on Nick Brewer (Attic), a loving father, husband and brother, who one day suddenly and mysteriously disappears. A video appears on the Internet of Nick, severely beaten, holding a card that reads, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I’m dying. Is it a threat or an admission? Or both? As his sister (Kazan) and his wife (Gabriel) rush to find him and save him, they discover a side of Nick they never knew existed.

Nielsen data is based only on the US audience using TVs and only covers Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney +. The company publishes its streaming data reports with a delay of around a month due to an agreement with the aforementioned streaming services. Major streamers in the entertainment industry do not regularly publish their own verifiable audience data.

Nielsen’s latest report came out days after Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos discussed Netflix viewership stats at Vox Media’s Code conference. At the time, Sarandos said “Bridgerton” was the streaming service’s most popular show, followed by “Lupine” and “The Witcher”. Sarandos also said the Korean-language drama “Squid Game”, which premiered on September 17, could become the greatest Netflix show of all time. (Nielsen’s delayed reporting means the “Squid Game” audience won’t be revealed for several weeks.)

Netflix has long had success with non-English programming; The aforementioned “Lupine” is a French-language series, while “Money Heist” is a Spanish-language series and was the second most-watched show this week.

Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” was the streamer’s only title to rank in Nielsen’s latest report; it was the fourth most-watched show of the week, with 444 million minutes viewed. The animated film “What if…? The Marvel Cinematic Universe show was the eighth most-watched show of the week, with 235 million minutes viewed.
