Here’s the playoff pic heading into Week 18, via Associated Press:

The NFL schedule changes for Week 18 will include exactly what the league wanted: a Sunday night showdown for a playoff berth.

To round off the 17-game NFL first season, the Los Angeles Chargers game against the Las Vegas Raiders has been moved from the day to prime time. The two rivals of AFC West are 9-7 and the winner will advance to the playoffs.

“Each week has its own life in the NFL. He’s had his own life from the start, and that’s the way we have to deal with it here, ”Chargers coach Brandon Staley said. “And the longer, the longer we stay here, the more people will realize that each week is going to be like the week to come.”

The Colts, Steelers and Ravens are also part of the mix for the AFC’s latest wildcard location – New England has one. If Indianapolis wins next Sunday in Jacksonville, it’s won. Pittsburgh (7-7-1) must win; he plays Monday night at home against Cleveland, then visits Baltimore (8-8) and could still fail.

Baltimore needs all kinds of help, but is mathematically alive and needs to break a five-game slide Sunday against Pittsburgh. The Ravens would get the green light if they finished 9-8 with the Chargers and Colts as they swept the other teams. But if the Raiders are 9-8 with Baltimore and Indy, Las Vegas goes for the same reason.

A loss of chargers eliminates them.

The league also changed two games from Sunday to Saturday. Kansas City, already the AFC West champion, will be in Denver, followed by Dallas in Philadelphia. None of these games have the strong playoff implications of the Chargers-Raiders.

The Chiefs (11-5) could secure the AFC’s No.1 seed with a win, but would need Tennessee (11-5) to lose to Houston. Denver is out.

Dallas (11-5) won the NFC East and Philadelphia (9-7) has an NFC wild card.

The other games of Week 18 are AFC champion West Cincinnati (10-6) in Cleveland; NFC North winner and seed Green Bay (13-3) in Detroit; Seattle, Arizona, which has a wildcard spot at 11-5 and could still win NFC West; New Orleans (8-8 and in the mix for an NFC wild card) in Atlanta; the New York Jets face AFC leader East Buffalo (10-6), who won the division with a victory; San Francisco (9-7 and also in contention for an NFC wild card) against NFC leader West Los Angeles Rams (12-4); New England (10-6), who could still win the AFC East with a victory in Miami and a loss in Buffalo; Caroline to the winner of the NFC South Tampa Bay (12-4); Chicago, Minnesota; and Washington at the New York Giants.

There are more permutations that will turn heads. For example:

– A tie at four or five at 9-8 for the jokers is possible in the AFC. If the Dolphins and / or Browns also achieve that record, the Colts have the advantage based on the best conference record.

– As the Saints have the edge over the Niners for an NFC spot at 9-8 based on a best conference record, in a three-way tie with the Eagles, Philly is with the best conference record, then New Orleans gets the other place above San Francisco.

– Finally, there are scenarios involving links that even some teams may not be sure of.
