Mumbai: Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has called for applications for vacant MPEG-4 slots of the DD Free Dish DTH platform for the period 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.
The 57 e-bidding process will tentatively be held from February 10, and the last day for submitting applications is February 8.
The bidding for vacant MPEG-4 slots will be open to all genre TV channels with a reserve price set at Rs 50 lakh per year. Only satellite TV channels authorized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) would be allowed to participate in the electronic auction. Broadcasters can participate directly or through their authorized distribution partners. International public broadcasters licensed by the MIB can also participate in the auction process, the public broadcaster said.
Channels participating in the electronic auction process must pay a mandatory non-refundable processing fee of Rs 25,000 and a participation fee of Rs 10 lakhs which must be paid by sight draft. Unsuccessful bidders will receive a refund of participation fees three weeks after the declaration of the results of the e-auction. Successful bidders will be required to make payments in ten monthly installments, each installment amounting to one-tenth of the difference between the bid amount and the participation fee.
If the amount is not paid within the stipulated time, the public broadcaster said it would charge interest of 14.5% per annum. If the channel does not deposit the required amount, the entry fee plus any installments already deposited will be forfeited and the channel will be removed from the DD Free Dish platform.
