“The Lincoln Lawyer” dethroned in the Netflix Top 10 by a new show

I’ve written a lot of these columns, where I discuss any new Netflix show that’s appeared as No. 1 in the top 10 list, knocking down the former champion, but this is one of those times when a transfer crown was inevitable.

The Lincoln Lawyer has had a good run, having been solidly at the top since its debut in the US and a number of parts of the world, but has now been dethroned by what else? Stranger Things season 4.

Even before that, Stranger Things was climbing into the top 10 as people watched old episodes to prepare for the Season 4 debut years later, and now that it’s arrived, the first seven episodes of the fourth nine-episode season took the top spot a day after their debut.

Season 4 of Stranger Things has an odd format, seven long episodes followed by a month-long break, then two giant episodes totaling four hours in July for the conclusion. It might seem like the format of a show coming to an end, but there’s always a promised Season 5 after that, where we know for sure that it is the last episode of the series. Less if they decide to do spinoffs. Apparently this split was due to production issues, but I’m sure Netflix will also appreciate a second round of Stranger Things Conversations in a month, rather than the usual binge-and-forget setup they have now.

I would expect Stranger Things to stay at the top of the charts here for at least a good week if not longer because with episodes this long it’s not only popular but will take most of the time people to get through this first part of the season.

As for The Lincoln Lawyer, it’s just an unqualified hit for Netflix, at least in terms of viewership. As a show, it’s good, good even, but nothing spectacular. It did, however, seem to tick all the right boxes for many viewers, and it does seem that with likely low filming costs and no A-list stars to feed, a season 2 should be inevitable, even if it didn’t. not been announced. Again. There are six Lincoln Lawyer books in total, this season was the second book, and Matthew McConaughey’s movie ten years ago was the first book. So there’s a lot more source material to follow as well. It seems like a no-brainer for renewal, and Netflix seems to be dropping the ball a little less in that department these days.

But yeah, Stranger Things is here to stay on top for a while. I’m about to start watching today, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come.
